Er-Qiang Chen received his B.S. (1988) and M.S. (1991) degree from Fudan University in Shanghai, China. In 1994, he went to the University of Akron in USA and got his Ph.D. degree in 1998. He spent the period 1998-2000 as postdoctoral researcher at the University of Akron and Polymer Division, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He joined Peking University in 2000, where he is currently a professor of polymer physics and also serves as the director of the Key Laboratory of Polymer Chemistry and Physics of Ministry of Education at Peking University. His research focuses on phase transitions and structures of polymers including crystallization, liquid crystalline behavior, and polymer self-assembly.
