Presentation: Self-nucleation and heterogeneous nucleation of polypropylene microdroplets in immiscible blends
Dario Cavallo graduated in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Genova in 2007 and achieved the Ph.D. title in Chemical Sciences from the same University in 2011, under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni C. Alfonso. After two periods as post-doc researcher at the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology in Madrid, and at the Eindhoven University of Technology, he is currently employed by the Department of Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry of the University of Genoa as Assistant Professor of Industrial Chemistry.
The research activity of Dario Cavallo is mainly focused on structuring processes of semicrystalline polymers. Particular attention is paid to the correlation between molecular features and crystallization behavior; and to polymer solidification in complex external conditions (e.g., high cooling rates). Recently, other research lines concerns different nucleation phenomena, polymorphic polymers and crystallization of bio-based polymers.
He co-authored around 60 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has actively contributed to international polymer conferences, with 13 invited lectures and other 25 oral or poster contributions as main author. Currently, he is member of the “Editorial Advisory Board” of Polymer Crystallization (Wiley), and of the “International Advisory Board” of the Chinese Journal of Polymer Science (Springer).
